The DVD drive on my Dell has suddenly stopped working.?
I have a dimension 2400 … I had this team for almost four years. The CD and DVD are separated, but the DVD player usually plays both CDs and DVDs. Now I can not recognize DVD either. The CD works very well however. When you insert a DVD into the DVD drive, which makes the usual sounds as if about to work, but it does never recognized the DVD. I tried to download the drivers again on the website of Dell support, but I get a message saying that the DVD player will not be updated. I do not know if I'm doing something wrong or if the unit is triggered. What I can do?
If this is old, fired more than likely. CD and DVD have a relatively short shelf life, even in comparison with other pieces of electronic equipment. The best thing can do is replace it. This is not really that hard to do. Just open the computer, pull the unit and pull the plug. Then connect the new drive and slide the new drive in place. The team should immediately recognize the drive, but you may need to install software for this, depending on your computer. If not recognized, it is likely this is not hard, it's your problem.
